Step 4: Open the game, load into a run and open the debug console. This will allow you to use the debug console in-game to forcibly add achievements. Step 3: Add a new line to the bottom of the file that reads exactly as "EnableDebugConsole=1", then save the file. Step 2: On your file browser, open the following file with notepad or notepad++ (replace " username" as appropriate): C:\Users\ username\Documents\My Games\Binding of Isaac Afterbirth+\options.ini Disable "The Binding of Isaac: Repentance". Step 1: Go into your steam library, open "The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth" page, scroll down and click "Manage my 3 DLC". This makes use of the debug console in Afterbirth+, which whilst writing this post is currently disabled in Repentance. Some are quite tedious to unlock normally. This post is to help new PC players unlock old characters they may have already unlocked on console. The distinction lies in the potential for skill development, creative expression, and problem-solving that gaming can offer, akin to more traditionally recognized hobbies.IMPORTANT: There are no repentance spoilers in this post, but I have provided two links to the wiki which is absolutely full of spoilers. This is what would differentiate it from productive, fulfilling hobbies like knitting, fishing, or painting, as opposed to recreational activities like drinking or watching TV. If 'gamers' as a community want to make a stronger case for the legitimacy of their hobby, then a case must be made for its benefits beyond mere enjoyment.
I simply cannot agree with anyone who cheats just to get achievements I don't think that's a healthy behavior. I think the blame lies more with developers who ignore the inevitable existence of cheats when designing their games and achievements, rather than with players who want to play the game their way and have no choice but to get achievements along the way. They should also more strictly control how players can 'achieve' in the public arena of each individual game. I've had this conversation offline since this post, and my position aligns more with the idea that developers should provide more in-game cheats/tools/options to allow a more customized experience. Mastering the art of that default shot becomes so satisfying as you get better at 'bending the bullet', just like they did in that one movie. I totally understand where you're coming from with the 'Analog Stick' mod, but at the same time, I can't help but encourage you to try again without that mod someday.
